Or,
What is the moral of the story?
Here the speaker is Mr sivasankar, father of Leela.
Sidda is referred to here as the criminal.
Sidda was accused of stealing the gold chain which Leela used to wear every time. His disappearance into the dark night intensified the suspicious more. Police had arrested him soon but they are unable to make him confess the accusation. Finally Leela’s mother rescued the gold chain from a tamarind pot in the kitchen. It was found but could not change Sivasankar’s mind. Although Sidda was proved innocent Mr. Sivasankar could not reappoint him. In accordance to the first record he was considered as a brutal criminal. Mr. Sivasankar made it dangerous to keep such a criminal at home as an errand servant. This situation led him to such a comment.
This words of Mr. Sivasankar reveal the existence of social regression and the harsh inhumanity of the upper class towards the lower class people in the society.
